Day 0: The travel

6 Jan

I’ll take the train to Paris Charles de Gaule Airport from Lyon at 7:56 am, arriving at 10:00 am. My plane will leave at 11:35 am.

I’ll land in SF at 9.21 pm, after the time I’ll spend at the airport verifying my passport at the frontier and the 30 minutes the shuttle takes from the airport to the city centre, I’ll get there around 11 pm.

I’ll go to my couchsurfer’s place or my youth  hostel to leave my stuff and take a shower, then I’ll go out. I will go out depending on the recommendations I get from my couchsurfer or the people I meet at the hostel. I don’t think that I’ll be going to bed too late because I’ll be tired from the journey and I would like to get up early the next day to visit the city.

Day 1: The discovery day

5 Jan

It will be my first day in SF, so I want to use it to discover the city. I want to walk down the streets until I don’t know where I am. I like to do that when I’m in an unknown place. However, I absolutely want to do what follows:

  • Waking up early and maybe seeing the fog!
  • Visiting the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Visiting different areas, such as The Chinatown, The Little France, the Mission Distric (the oldest one in the city), The Castro, The South of Market…
  • Seeing the Ocean at Ocean Beach
  • Taking the “cable cars”
  • Going to the Golden Gate Park and having a look at the Young Museum, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, an Architect Firm I really like !

Day 2: The cultural day

4 Jan

During this day, I’m going to try to do as many cultural things as I can. SF is not all about technology and fun, there are also plenty of  cultural activities to do, such as Museums, amazing libraries and concert halls, where I’m sure I’ll find a lot things I like !

I’ll be visiting the Museum of Modern Art (9$ for students), and I think that it will take a lot of time. www.sfmoma.org

I want to have a look at the new building for the Academy of Sciences, which has been designed by Renzo Piano, a very famous Architect. After that I want to go to the City Lights Bookstore and maybe buy one or two books I like in English.

If I have time, there is also the California Historical Society Museum I can visit and the price is only 1$! www.goldengatetransit.org

For the night, I want to go to see a concert at The Fillmore, a legendary music venue. The admission is from 20$ to 40$. www.thefillmore.com

Day 3: The day of the technology

3 Jan

For this day, I really want to go to the Silicon Valey because I like new technologies and I’m a huge fan of Apple. I think this company has built the best product in terms of new technology and I’m always checking all the updates about Apple. Maybe I’ll meet Steve Jobs there!

I also want to see the Google building, as it is one of the biggest societies of our generation and most of the people use their services nowadays.

It’s important for me to see the place where the future technologies are being developed.

Day 4: The surfing day

2 Jan

I keep this day to surf on The Stinson Beach, about 2 hours at the north of San Francisco by bus. This beach is perfect for me because the waves are not too big. I’m just a beginner in surfing. I read there is a hippie environment there; I’m not really into that lifestyle but I think it could be nice.

To go there, I have to take a bus from SF to Marin City. There is a daily bus service to Stinson Beach. However, I didn’t find the information about its price.

Day 5: The return

1 Jan

As it is my last day, I’m going to take advantage of it to take some pictures of the city. I will also be returning to those places I liked the most.

After that, I have to pack my bag at 8:00 pm max. My plane leaves SF at 10:20 pm and lands in Paris Charles de Gaule at 6:55 am the day after. I just have to take the train to come back to Lyon.
